100 Years of Palestinian Violence Against Jews/Zionists/Israelis

  • December 1886: armed Arab villagers from Yahudiyeh attacked the newly established Zionist settlement of Petah Tikva
  • March 1, 1920: A large group of armed militiamen and Bedouins attacked the kibbutz Tel Hai, Joseph Trumpeldor killed in fighting
  • 1920: the Nebi Musa riots from 4 to 7 April 1920 in and around the the British-controlled Old City of Jerusalem.
  • 1st to 15th May 1921: the Jaffa riots Arab men bearing clubs, knives, swords, and some pistols broke into Jewish buildings and murdered their inhabitants, while women followed to loot
  • 1929 Western Wall riots: Jews request better access to the foot of the "al Buraq" Western Wall. Amin al-Husayni encourages Palestinians to defend the "Holy Places." Arab mobs's attack.
  • 1948: Arab-Israeli War, fought against a coalition of Arab states immediately after Israel's declaration of independence
  • 1949-1956: cross-border fedayeen raids from Jordan kills app. 300 Israelis, mostly civilians shot, ambushed and blown up. Reprisals followed
  • 1955: Nasser began formally supervising, training, and organizing fedayeen groups in the Gaza and Sinai to launch raids into Israel. More reprisals
  • Suez Crisis (1956): Military operation with the UK and France against Egypt following the nationalization of the Suez Canal
  • 1965: Fatah began sabotage operations and cross-border raids from Syrian- and Lebanese-supported bases in Jordan to disrupt infrastructure
  • Six-Day War (1967): A preemptive conflict resulting in Israel capturing the Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem, Sinai Peninsula, and Golan Heights
  • 1960s-70s: PLO began international terror attacks, high-profile airline hijackings, embassy sieges, bombings, and hostage-taking/assassinations mostly against civilians
  • 1968: Nasser takes Yasser Arafat on a secret trip to Moscow to meet their financiers and arms suppliers
  • War of Attrition (1967-1970): A localized conflict of artillery duels and raids fought primarily along the Suez Canal and the Israeli-Jordanian border
  • Nasser endorses Yasser Arafat as the leader of the Palestinian national movement on February 4, 1969
  • 1967-1970 Black September: PLO armed gangs commit criminal violence in Jordan culminating in war with Jordan's army, with up to 20,000 dead and the PLO expelled
  • 1970s: 1972 Munich Massacre at the Olympic Village, 1974 Ma'alot school hostage crisis (26 dead), 1975 Savoy Hotel hostage situation
  • Yom Kippur War (1973): A surprise coalition attack led by Egypt and Syria, which demonstrated Israeli generals incompetence and also Israeli resilience
  • 1982 Lebanon War: sraeli invasion of Lebanon expelled 15,000 PLO fighters to North Africa, resulting in decades of disaster for the unprotected women, children and men
  • 1987-1993: First Intifada: civil disobedience and riots using improvised weapons. 1,500 rioters killed, tens of thousands injured and/or imprisoned, West Bank economy ruined, overseas workers replace Palestinians in Israel where GDP growth falls
  • August 1990: Saddam Hussein invades Kuwait. 150,000 Palestinians work in Kuwait with families maybe 400,000. Arafat Supports Saddam. After Iraqi defeat they are expelled. Half a billion dollars annual remittances to Palestine go kaput thanks to Arafat. Does he care? The money went to workers' families not to Arafat.
  • 2000-2005: Second Intifada: organised groups with IEDs, car bombs, and suicide belts/vests. Urban terrorism against civilians but no organised warfare against Israeli military

The conflicts that followed on have involved the Hamas and Hezbollah groups. Hamas' fighters and other staff rely nearly totally on the investment of 100s of millions of dollars from Iran and Qatar and Iranian weapons and training. Hamas leaders have siphoned off billions of dollars of this money for themselves. Hezbollah's members are Lebanese shiite muslims. Iran is their state sponsor and invests 100s of millions of dollars annually along with donations from diaspora Lebanese and money from illicit activities. Without Iranian backing these groups would not exist.
